Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-30
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using Boardingly (“the Service”) at boardingly.com you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding contract between you and Boardingly Ltd.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf.
- Users under 13 may only access the Service through a parent or guardian account, with verifiable parental consent in place before any personal data is collected.
- By using the Service, you confirm you meet the eligibility requirements or that a parent or guardian has confirmed them on your behalf.
3. What the Service does
Boardingly provides verified profiles of UK boarding schools, a school comparison tool, and optional paid comparison reports for international and expat families. School data is sourced from schools, ISI/Ofsted inspections and public records.
We represent families, not schools. No school pays to appear in Boardingly or to influence its data or ranking.
4. User accounts
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials confidential.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Providing accurate information during registration.
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at privacy@boardingly.com.
You may not share, transfer or sell your account.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without our written permission.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Upload, submit or transmit any content that is defamatory, fraudulent, or harmful.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems.
- Circumvent any access controls, rate limits or security measures.
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden or impair it.
6. Paid reports — subscription and billing
Boardingly offers a £49 one-time school comparison report. By purchasing a report:
- Price: £49 per report, inclusive of applicable VAT where required. Price is displayed before checkout.
- Auto-renewal: Reports are a one-time purchase — there is no automatic renewal.
- Cancellation / cooling-off: Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have a 14-day right to cancel a distance sale. Because reports are digital content delivered immediately, you will be asked at checkout to confirm that you waive your 14-day cancellation right in exchange for immediate access. If you do not waive this right, access is granted 14 days after purchase.
- Refunds: If you experience a technical failure that prevents access to a purchased report, contact privacy@boardingly.com within 7 days and we will investigate and offer a remedy.
- Payment processing: All payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store card details.
7. Intellectual property
All content on Boardingly — including school profile text, scoring methodology, design and software — is owned by Boardingly Ltd or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, republish or distribute any content without our written consent.
School names, crests and logos are the property of the respective schools and are used for identification purposes only.
8. Data accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that school data (fees, inspection outcomes, contact details) is accurate and up to date. However:
- Fees are indicative — always confirm directly with each school.
- Inspection outcomes are sourced from ISI and Ofsted records and may not reflect the most recent position.
- We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of information on this Service.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Boardingly Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
11. Third-party services
The Service links to school websites and third-party platforms. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms. You may close your account at any time by emailing privacy@boardingly.com. On termination, your data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email (to registered users) and via a notice on this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your statutory rights under the law of your country of residence.
15. Dispute resolution
Please contact us first at privacy@boardingly.com — we will endeavour to resolve any issue within 14 days. If we cannot reach agreement, disputes will be referred to the courts of England and Wales.
