The boarding-school bureau

Unique schools for creating worldly citizens.

Choosing a UK boarding school from abroad is daunting. Brochures are built to impress, not inform. Boardingly reports each school the way a good magazine reports a city — verified data, inspection outcomes in plain English, and honest gaps where we don't know yet.

The Boardingly Worldly Ranking

A new ranking of schools to help parents develop a worldly child.

Let us explain. It’s more than academics — a worldly child is shaped by the whole environment: the teachers, the innovation, the culture beyond the classroom. These eight factors are what we think a school needs to raise a child who can go into the world happy, creative, financially literate, cross-culturally aware, high in EQ and socially minded. Each scores 0–100, never paid for by schools, and rolls up into one Worldly score.

Unique Children

A child is rarely just one type.

Children can be any combination of the types below, all at once. We’ve found the seven that help us find the school for you in the Worldly approach.

The Builder

Computational depth → engineering, a lab, a startup.

The Artist

Real conservatoire pathways → a creative career on their terms.

The Thinker

Debate and breadth → PPE, economics, public life.

The Athlete

Serious sport as a developmental pathway, not a co-curricular.

The Explorer

Curiosity beyond borders → international programmes, global exchanges, languages.

The Quiet Observer

Deep focus, reflective thinking → thrives with space, small classes and careful pastoral attention.

The Networker

Warmth, friendship and connection → small, close-knit schools where everyone is known.

Coverage

Placed and read, coast to coast.

From Gordonstoun on the Moray coast to the Home Counties, each profile draws together sourced fees, inspection outcomes and an objective Worldly Ranking — mapped like a city guide, not a league table.
